Hi, I’m Emily
My passion for this work is rooted in my own experience healing from early childhood grief & loss as well as my love for the mind-body connection. I am a trained massage therapist, and an anatomy nerd, so I could go on and on about how our bodily experience informs our emotional experience and vice versa. I love and trust the somatic approach to therapy because I’ve seen it work for myself and many others.
It would be unfair to ask you to be a client if I didn’t also know what it means to be a client. I’ve experienced many forms of therapy, starting from a young age. Much of it didn’t feel helpful at the time, but as I look back, I see how it saved me. Choosing my own therapist, and what I wanted to work on each session helped me begin to feel more agency and empowerment in my healing process. I share this to normalize that healing doesn’t always feel effective in real time, and to emphasize how important it is to find the right fit, in terms of approach, but also personality and vibe.
I’d love to share with you the way somatic psychotherapy can support a gentle, self paced, inquiry process -because therapy shouldn’t make you feel like you have to rush, be tough on yourself, or be perfect while you heal. I aim to help you feel more comfortable in yourself, and more permission to BE yourself, because when we cannot be who we are, we suffer immensely.
