Hi, I’m Emily
It would be unfair to ask you to be a client if I didn’t also know what it means to be a client. I’ve experienced many forms of therapy, starting from a young age. Much of it didn’t feel helpful at the time, but as I look back, I find myself accessing invaluable lessons and leaning on the foundation of strength & inner resourcing it provided me. I share this to normalize that therapy doesn’t always feel effective in real time, and to emphasize how important it is to find the right fit, in terms of approach, but also personality and vibe.
My commitment to this career is rooted in my own experience navigating the long term impacts of early childhood grief & loss as well as my love for the mind-body connection. I am a trained massage therapist, and an anatomy nerd, so I could go on and on about how our bodily experience informs our emotional experience and vice versa. I love and trust the somatic approach to therapy because I’ve seen it work for myself and many others.
I’d love to share with you the way somatic psychotherapy can support a gentle, self paced, inquiry process -because therapy shouldn’t make you feel like you have to rush, be tough on yourself, or be perfect while you heal. I aim to help you feel more comfortable in yourself, and more permission to BE yourself, because when we cannot be who we are, we suffer immensely.
